Ashland Virginia Engagement

how they met

Cydnee went to visit her sister, Emily, at Virginia Tech in April of 2017 for Spring Game weekend. Corey was a good friend of Emily's, and she introduced him to Cydnee that weekend. The two hit it off, and started dating within just a couple of months.

the proposal

Both of their immediate families took a New Years cruise along with some friends —It was a large group of about 40 people! Corey had decided in November that he was going to propose, and that he wanted to do it with all of their parents and sisters there. He popped the question at exactly midnight on New Years Eve, on a balcony overlooking the entire cruise ship and the countdown clock. Cydnee did not see it coming at all!

about the couple

Cydnee and Corey enjoy watching TV shows together at the end of a long day. Corey loves baseball, and has converted Cydnee into a Nationals fan. They love to go to games together. They also have an adorable Pug/Dachshund mix named Penelope.

Corey loves how hardworking and driven Cydnee is. “She puts the needs of others before her own. She is genuinely a fun person to be around and the easiest person to hold a conversation with.”

Cydnee loves Corey’s kindness. “He always puts his family and friends first. My parents always told me to marry a man who treats his mother like gold, and Corey has an amazing relationship with his mom.”

the session

I met Cydnee and Corey in early June for their engagement session at a family friend’s home in Ashland. It was so much fun getting to know them, and exploring a new location. They even brought their dog to include in the experience, which is always a bonus for me!

Here are a few of my favorites, though it was so hard to choose! I can’t wait for their wedding in Blacksburg next Spring.
